I have some software that requires me to press Ctrl and Shift (together) and hold them while I select the Edit menu and then select a menu item. When hold down Ctrl + Shift it stops the menu from working at all. How can I achieve this combination? It is the method for registering the software so I don't want to spend so much time with the registration pop ups appearing.

I am using Windows XP SP 3 and the very latest Mac OS X Leopard update.

    Thanks

Never heard of such a convoluted method of activating a program.

Have you brought this situation to the attention of the developer of the software you are trying to activate?

Who knows, maybe they can make the registration method just a little more in touch with reality...

You are correct - it is very convoluted. However, this is not the normal method for registration. It is old software (2002) and the registration number has long since been lost. The company went out of business but the people who took over the support were able to give me this method as a "back door" method to stop the registration reminders from popping up every few days. If I hadn't been so stupid as to lose the number I wouldn't be in this situation!

I finally solved the problem. I was trying all sorts of combinations and fn+ctrl+shift has done the trick.

Good to hear, and good computing.
