I recently updated from Parallels 3 to 4 (Build 3844). I have tried to install Parallels Tools 4 multiple times following all the suggestions I can find in the forum. I am running Windows XP with Service Pack 3. Parallels thinks that Tools is installed because it isn't prompting me to uploaded and the icon at the bottom of the window says Tools is installed. My problem is that I cannot get the Tools application to open. When I click the Tools Control Center icon nothing happens. Is this the right app? I noticed that Parallels Tool 3 still shows up in the Add/Remove control panel. Could that be the problem with Tools 4 not working correctly. When I try to remove Tools 3, a dialogue box tells me that it has to be removed when the virtual machine is running. I think that means that Parallels 3 has to be running. I tried using regedit to remove Tools 3 but it doesn't show up in the regedit pane. Any suggestions? Thanks, Bob
It's not clear what icon do you mean. In Parallels Desktop 4.0 there is no such thing as Parallels Tools Center. If Paralells Tools of the version 3.0 are still showing under Add/Remove programs, please download MS cleanup utility and get rid of this remain. After it's removed restart Windows and install Parallels Tools.
