Issue: I cannot get the built-in iSight on my MacBook Pro to properly install in the Guest OS (XP Pro), despite various attempts (outlined below).
Host: MacBook Pro 2.4GHz (Santa Rosa), running Leopard 10.5.1
Guest: XP Pro SP2, with current updates as per Microsoft Update
I can see the Built-In iSight on the Parallels USB menu. When I select it, I get the New Hardware Wizard in XP. As per the Xenos recommendations, I have extracted the appleisightinstaller from the original Leopard OS DVD, and ran it in XP using the command line suggestion (open cmd, cd desktop, appleisightinstaller -p). The installer ends with a green check mark and reports that the iSight is ready to use. However, it is NOT recognized in any app, and the XP device manager shows it as missing a driver (yellow question mark).
I have also tried manually installing the driver by pointing to the folder in which the driver is already extracted, but even though there is an isight.inf, XP reports that the drivers are unavailable, so there is something about this driver that is incompatible with the MBP iSight.
I read the post that says a "hidden installer" is reported and then the installation is successful, but this point is never reached on my MBP - every time i turn on the iSight in the USB menu, the WinXP New Found Hardware wizard runs.
Has anyone had repeatable success in getting a MacBook Pro (Santa Rosa) built-in ISight to reliably work in XP SP2 as the guest OS in Parallels 5584?
Thanks in advance...
