Hi Group! I just installed the latest version of Parallels 4 from the Parallels update window and when I rebooted, my Mac will not boot. All I get is the mechanical wheel appearing and disappearing. When I booted into verbose mode, I can see something with Paralells loading and a series of kernal errors. It loads and crashes so fast that it's a bit impossible to actually write down the exact error. Is there a way to remove what ever it is the Mac is loading from single user mode? Maybe something system related that needs to be removed? Thanks!
I had to reinstall the system (Archive and Install) to get back in. Now it want's me to reinstall Parallels. I refuse to. Got some more info though... I downloaded version 4.0.3844.408728 when this started happening. Thanks!
Hi Elric! After 3 Archives and Installs i kind of gave up! But i just upgraded to 10.5.7 though. Is it safe to reinstall?
Hi, It would be great if you could try to install Parallels Desktop again. If it will panic again, it is possible to boot in "Safe Boot" (to boot in "Safe Boot", the "Shift" key should be hold during boot) and uninstall Parallels Desktop from the safe boot. If this panic will occur again, the files from /Library/Logs/PanicReporter will help us fix the problem in short time.
Interesting. I ran Parallels yesterday for the first time in a while. The updater came up saying there was an update available, so I clicked it and went back to what I was doing. I don't recall whatever became of the update process, but today I found a file in my downloads folder named "ParallelsDesktop-nova_development-en_US-4.0.3844.408822.dmg.prlupd-part" My version of Parallels was not updated (it's still on 4.0.3810) and that file didn't launch anything when I tried double-clicking it. After seeing a few reports here of problems with this update, I opted to delete the file. When I started Parallels again today, the updater ran but said it was up to date. The updater didn't automatically quit, though, so I'm not sure what's going on with it.
Update: I just manually ran the updater again and this time it says 4.0.3844 is available for it. I think I'll wait on it a bit...
