It seems that the latest builds of parallels 3 are very keen that I should upgrade to parallels 4 and demonstrate that enthusiasm by intermittently displaying a large dialog box inviting me to so upgrade... No matter what I click in that dialog box, it leaves my virtual machine "Not Responding". This is completely unacceptable, and there is no way that I will upgrade any of my licenses while this behavior persists.
Hello Dan, Please follow the below mentioned steps in order to avoid Parallels Desktop upgrade notification : 1) Go to Applications -> Parallels and right-click on Parallels Desktop application 2) Choose 'Show Package Contents' 3) Go to Contents -> Resources 4) Move "Parallels Desktop Notification" to trash.
hi Srinivasulu.V I asked a similar question re P4 but nobody answered. Is the solution you give here also suitable for P4 - the alerts are really irritating ( on 3810 and happy to stay there until the bugs in 3844 are thoroughly fixed) peter peter
Peter, For what its worth: 3844 is actually usable on my system where as the previous version ran impossibly slow. For me at least 3844 is a significant improvement in the release 4 line up. The only issue i have found with it is that Spaces doesn't automatically switch to the right page when you click the parallels icon in the dock.
thanks for that, Paul , I was being unkind to 3884 there. The bugs I am wary of are more in the update procedure rather than the application itself. I get the feeling that I stand a 50/50 chance of upgrading and the new version falling over, and then needing to get back here with urgent questions, and having to provide strings of diagnostics, uninstall, go into system folders and remove files and spend another half day - all-told - in working around something the beta testers missed. This paranoia is based on past experience. 3810 is fine for me, although it seems impervious to all my attempts to tell it to STFU, I don't want to upgrade right now. peter
