Hi, I recently installed Windows 7 RC and the Parallels Tools. Everything seems to work fine but there's no audio device installed. The speaker in the taskbar shows a red mark and the Windows problem solver (however that is called in English) reports that their is no driver for this audio device. Any ideas someone?
I have the same problem. However, I did get sound on the Beta release (build 7000) of windows 7. Everything else appears to be working fine. Parallells tools install OK, but no option to install the Kapersky Internet tools.
I tried Bruce's suggestion, but in both the 32 & 64 bit versions I get the same error, that the driver cannot be found for the device. So, still no sound from Windows 7 RC1 with the current release of Parallels.
I had the same problem. I went through the windows update process and it downloaded an audio driver. After a reboot the audio was working. Hope this helps.
Doh, I should have realised that MS would release updates so soon after a release. Normally its the first thing I do after installing any MS OS, but for some reason, it totally slipped my mind. I blame the strong antibiotics the doc has put me on clouding my mind. Thanks to mhamon for the info. I Did the windows update on both the 32 & 64 bit installations, and it did indeed install the necessary sound drivers, and I now have sound. So nothing wrong with Parallels, and all down to an incomplete Windows release build. Now to see how Windows 7 actually stacks up as an OS.
There was a long thread about this when the beta came out. I had the problem then, and the fix (in the thread) was the same for the RC release last week...for me.
Here is the thread I mentioned previously about the same problem in build 7000. Read the whole thread as the fix was in two parts...the driver and then selecting the digital output device. The fixes for 7000 worked for 7100 for me. Note that in build 7000 the sound problem only applied to the 64 bit. The windows update process took care of the 32 bit sound, but not the 64 bit.
