Hi all, I'm hoping there is a solution to my problem.
    Background:
We have upgraded to the latest 15" Macbook Pro as well as moving from Parallels 2.2 to v4.
On the old laptop we had a boot camp partition with proprietary software that will cost me a lot to get the company to come out and reinstall for us, as a result I need to migrate the old partition to the new MacBook.
The old laptop has been returned to the store as a trade-in deal and with it the Boot Camp partition (Win XP) that I needed to transfer.
I have a disk image (.DMG file) of the Boot Camp partition, but do not want to run Windows in Boot Camp on the new Mac if I can help it.

    The Problem:
Is there a way I can transfer the Boot Camp disk image directly into a VM in Parallels?
Because it is only a disk image of the Boot Camp partition, Parallels Transporter wont recognise it to copy over, nor will Parallels Desktop recognise it to convert into a VM.

I have tried mounting the disk image and copying everything into a Virtual Drive using "Parallels Explorer" but that only renders that Virtual Drive unreadable.
I also can't copy the files into the Virtual Drive straight off the desktop as I'm trying to duplicate the entire install not just migrate data, and the system files are locked while the VM is running.

Any help or ideas would be most appreciated.

You can only mount dmg on Mac OS side and retrieve files

Since it's now April you probably solved this problem, but if not you might check out Winclone - it will supposedly allow transfer of a boot camp partition via its backup and restore functions. It's free at:
