    Hi,

I've been trying to install Parallels 4.0 with my windows xp bootcamp partition. It seemed to install fine, but when my virtual machine was being configured, it stopped at step 1, giving me this message:

"To continue with the configuration, log in to your Windows virtual machine. If you have the CD autorun option enabled, the configuration will resume automatically. Otherwise, open My Computer and run the setup.exe file located on your CD, ignoring any Windows messages"

I click, "OK" and then get this message:

"You are booting from your Boot Camp partition inside a virtual machine.

You will need to reactivate Windows and Microsoft Office. Do not change the virtual machine configuration without necessity as it may require another reactivation."

I click OK again, and Windows XP loads in Parallels, but the mouse and keyboard are frozen. The "Found New Hardware Wizard" is located on the screen, and the mouse associated with windows is frozen in the middle of the screen. Whenever I click inside the parallels/XP window, the mouse associated with OSX disappears, and I have to release it by pressing ctrl+alt. I've reset my virtual machine several times, and have also tried to install parallel tools manually by going to the file menu "Virtual Machine" and then selecting "install Parallel Tools". Nothing happens. I have also selected "devices" in the file menu, then "CD/DVD" and selected the "prl-tools-win.iso" file. Again, nothing happened. What should I do next? Thanks!

I just solved: booting with Boot Camp, and repairing Boot Camp drivers with Mac Install disk1.
    Hope this helps!

I had that problem with windows XP SP2 before and I found 2 ways to solve it:

1.Do a clean install on your bootcamp partition, and make sure you DON'T put the mac OS X disk in to get all the drivers. Do this process in the parallels.
After your windows is completely installed, restart to mac and run parallels, then put your mac OS X disk in to get all the drivers.

2.It's what I did, after window completely installed on my bootcamp partition. I put OS X disk in to get all the drivers, except something called "101/201 USB,PS2 device". I can't remember exactly what the name is, but very similar. I think that's the device which freeze your mouse and keyboard.
Then run parallels in the mac and finish the rest setup.

    Hope that helps.
    Cheers
