I was having the problem some people here have mentioned where Parallel's shared network option was greyed out. Both other network options were available and worked, but Shared networking was never available. I wrestled with the software on and off for a couple of days until today I finallly got fed up and un-installed Parallels, zapped the Mac's PRAM, then re-installed Parallels. Voila, it works. I used the same drive image the previoius Parallels install did, I just re-installed the software itself. Maybe just zapping the PRAM would have fixed it, but now I'll never know. Either way I thought someone here could make use of the information.
Pram?!? I am having the same problem. However, I have no idea what you mean by "zapping the PRAM" can you explain for this Mac Newb what that is?
Alright, a little google goes a long way.... Figured out what PRAM is and reset it. Did not help. Uninstalled, that did not help. I am using build 3036. In the process, the Host Only networking is now not greyed out ( it was before ). I could use a host-only/internet sharing config but I'd like to get it working properly. I should say that I created and installed Windows XP into this virtual machine with build 1970 and used bridged networking. I have since deleted the bridged adapter and am attempting to add a shared adapter. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dana
I am having the same issue. Only option available to me is bridged networking. Build details as follows: build 3106 Guest OS winXP, OpenSuse10.2, Ubuntu 6.10 Server & Workstation It would seem to be irrelevant of the guest OS type. Interesting thing is, one of my machines uses Shared networking, but now the option is greyed out, I can change it to bridged, but not change it back...
a quick use of the forums "search" tool would point you to this article:- http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=5591 and directed your attention to the second post. Seems to fix most occurances of this issue.
