Hello All: I am new to MAC altogether, and have just 2 questions about using parallels (as of now): 1. I have a dual core MBP, i have installed parallels to run on a windows network. parallels made me aware of an update, so i did so. once done, it told me to update the parallels tools, i did so. however at the end of the installation, it hung. after 30 mintues of no activity, i forcefully shut it down. upon next start, it gave me the same message to update. i did- same exact situation. i tried to uninstall parallels tools from windows, it said it needed the source file to update (there was no option to update or remove- the button said "remove" but it just updates.) now whenever i start parallels, it says to update. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks everyone for all help provided. KP
You should be able to uninstall Tools from the Control Panel, but first you need to mount the Tools CD by selecting Install Tools from the Action menu of Parallels. After a brief moment, the Parallels Tools CD should appear in your CD drive, in the Explorer (Flag-E on the keyboard will bring it up). At this point you can go into the Control Panel and remove Parallels Tools (theoretically). I've never done it this way because it has always worked for me just using the Action menu in Parallels. But since your 'puter hung, everything might not have been removed. What's your 2nd question?
nycruza and atomic: thanks much for your replies. booting in safe mode worked like a charm. ill keep the 2nd solution in mind for future use. i said i had 2 questions but i just posted the other seperately because it was so far off this topic, however i have no seen a resolution. perhaps you have an idea? please look at my second post today, the topic is "rpc over http.
