I was running Parallels on a macbook pro w/ 2g ram with no problems whatsoever under XP.

Had to install a larger HD recently and used software to ghost the old HD. Upon installing the new HD, running parallels under windows started getting low virtual memory frequently. Followed advice on parallels support notes and followed directions, no change, problem persists.

Using a CadCam program I try and use open GL2 which worked fine before I switched the HD.

Decided to start fresh, new mac OS X, updates followed by Parallels 4.0. Same problems. The CAD Cam program runs slow where before it was faster than running on a native windows platform.

    Any advice would be welcome.

    Thanks,

    Danny

Is this posted in the correct forum to be addressed?

I don't expect an instant response, but looking over the posts I see staff answering questions on other subjects on a regular basis.

If this is in the wrong forum for these questions and there is a better one, please advise.

FYI: I did a search to find related problems, on several other Parallels forums, none seem related except the memory problem, which were applied. Those did not solve the problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Dear danny baronian,

    Please clarify:

    1) what did you do to resolve the issue with low virtual memory?
    2) please check in Virtual machine - Start -> Control Panel -> System-> Advanced-> Performance -> Asvanced -> try to increase Virtual memory there

Also please check Parallels Desktop Menu -> Parallels Desktop -> Preferences-> memory -> restore defaults (or try to switch set totsl memory allocated to PD and its VM -> automatically)

Please inform us about teh results.

    galochka,

I think the memory problem has been resolved but I need to run it more to see if I no longer get the low memory message, which is a little hard when I'm using a program that runs extremely slow with out open GL2.

I used the first suggestion you made, which was either on the FAQ section or a related memory question on the forum.

I'll try the second suggestion you offered, it seems that also relates to memory, but I will check to see if the advanced section applies to the video portion.

The problem I still have is full implementation of open GL 2. Prior to changing my HD, running Parallels v4 my refresh rate and display for my CAD Cam application was fast. When I upgraded from v3 I don't remember doing anything different, the settings were defaults.

After a clean install of v4, the settings were also default, but now I cannot operate under full GL2. I select the option in my software which promptly indicates it cannot be supported.

Thanks for the help, still need a way to get the open GL2 working again.

    Danny
