    Looking for some help here...
I bought the upgrade to 4.0 today and have been trying to install it for some time now. Where I get stuck repeatedly is the Detection area (funny but this doesn't even rate a mention in the information on installing and/or upgrading). After I start the install I get a nice window that says I'm going to need to uninstall the old version (but I keep seeing on the Parallels site I don't) so I click okay aand proceed. I click continue to the Read Me, agree, say yes to participating in the feedback area and then get to the detection area which lists both of my virtual machines, neither of which are running. That is where I am stuck and the Go Back button is live, the continue button is greyed out, and there is nothing to do but go back. If I select one of the items I would think that it would allow me to do something but what I am not sure of as neither of the VMs is running.

I have a headache and would really appreciate some help as I don't see this issue anywhere.

    Hello syML,

Please stop the upgrade. Start Parallels Desktop 3.0 and check your both machine (they should be in stopped, not suspended stage). In general it is main reason that you cannot continue upgrade process.

In case they are still shown in this list
Please open Termonal (Applications -> Utilities ->Terminal)

    cd ./Documents
    rm -rf .parallels-vm-directory

More information please check in teh article: http://kb.parallels.com/en/5999
