    I upgraded to 4.0 about a month ago. Everything has worked fine until just recently. A few days ago I was getting rid of some programs on the Windows side using the "Add/Delete programs" function in the control panel. I accidentally misclicked on "parallels tools". I began uninstalling for like a minute. I quickly canceled it when I realized what I had done. And just to be safe, reinstalled parallels tools. A couple days later I noticed that Dynamic Screen Resolution and Clipboard Sharing no longer work in this VM. I don't want to say that what I did was certainly the reason behind these functions not working because I don't use them that much and it easily could have not been working before my accidental uninstall and I just didn't notice. As far as I can tell all the other parallels tools work fine, and according to the toolbar at the bottom parallels tools is installed.

    On my second VM (VM2) that I don't use much, Clipboard Sharing and Dynamic Screen Resolution still work fine. Also two other things that are different between the VM's. On the one with problems (VM1), the options "Run Parallels Compressor" and "Install Parallels Security" are both grayed out. This is not the case in VM2. I had previously installed Parallels Security on VM1, but had uninstalled it and now was trying to get it back. I have never had it installed on VM2.

    Anyway, I run Mac OS 10.4.11, Parallels 4.0, and Windows XP in the Guest OS. I'm not sure what other info would help, but I'll but happy to give whatever you need.

    I have tried installing parallels tools both through the drop down menu and also manually. I have uninstalled and reinstalled parallels desktop. I'm not all that cpu savvy so I decided before I kept messing around I should post here.

    Hello deang929,

    When you interrupted the process of uninstalling Parallels Tools (some tools were removed, some not that is why you have the issue with Screen resoltion)
    As you removed Parallels Tools only in one Machine (Parallels Tools is installed for each VM separately) you have the issue only with one machine.

    Please go to issued Virtual Machine in Add/remove programs and check if you have there Parallels Tools, please remove it if you have it there. After that restart your VM.

    When your Vm will be started again -> Parallels Desktop Menu-> Devices -> CD/DVD ROM -> connect image -> Macintosh HD-> Library-> Parallels -> Tools -> prl-tools-win.iso

    My computer -> and double click on CD/DVD rom after that Parallels Tools should start installation.

    In case after this you will have the issue with Parallels Desktop please check this thread:

    http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=33055
    Download prl_fs_drv.iso.zip and safe to Mac

    1) Please unzip the attachment to some place and start virtual machine.
    2) Right-click to the CD-ROM Icon on parallels VM window and choose "connect image". Select the unzipped prl_fs_drv.iso file. As well the image may be connected through VM configuration
    3) After Windows is booted, log on to it as Adminitstrator or some other user with Admin-rights, open the CD-Rom content (usually drive D:\ ; My Computer -> D:) and select install.bat. After that you should see several messages and invitation to reboot.
    4) Please reboot the VM and try to install Parallels Tools. This time it should work.

    Please inform us about the results.

    Worked perfectly. I can even reinstall Kaspersky now. Question, the reason I uninstalled Kaspersky is cause the thing was constantly saying "Warning: Full computer Scan has not been performed" this was two weeks into having the program and the thing was still scanning my HD saying it had not completed full scan. Any ideas on how to tackle that since I will be using KAspersky again?
