So I've done some reasearch and I guess the newest version of Parallels supports directX 9 now.
So this game should work. I don't get any CD errors like everyone else gets.

Here is what happens to me:
I have install every version of The Sims 2. Mansion &Gardens is the last one I installed so I click that to play.
The game goes to the loading screen and takes a while to do anything.
When it finally loads to the page where I can pick the towns, I click a town.

Since I have not played yet it, it then starts to install vacation, magic, seasons, etc.
Right before it gets into playing the town and everything is installed the game crashes.

This error message comes up "The application has crashed. The application will now terminate"

So I tried it again, of course it didn't install all the expansions cuz they were there, but right before it go into the actual town it crashed again.

    So here's my question:
Do I need to set the settings of Parallels to something different to make it run?
ATM they are at the default setting.

I'm not sure what to do.
I dunno if this is a Parallel problem or a Sims2 problem.
So I will be posting this here and on a Sims2 forum.

    Help please!

I have exactly the same problem. And the same question.

Did you find any answer yet?

    Yes!

I did find out why this won't work.

If you look at the graphics card for Parallels 4, it's just a virtual one.
This is why Sims 2 will either crash before the neighborhood.
    OR
It will load, and everything will be flashing a color.

The current graphics card Parallels uses as a virtual machine is not enough to support this game.
IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT GRAPHICS CARD YOU HAVE.
It's all in Parallel 4's settings.

I just went with boot camp. As much as I LOVE Parallels 4, I'm not gonna buy it until I can play the Sims 2 on it.
I mean if it has problems with Sims 2, it's gonna crash on Sims 3 in June.
