I have noticed that P4.0 usually does not quit on shutdown of a WinXP VM. Does anyone know if there's an option somewhere that makes P4.0 fully quit whenenver I shut down Windows in the VM (as did P3.0)?
This option is available in Parallels menu -> Virtual Machine -> Configure -> Startup and shutdown. The option "Close window on shutdown" has to be enabled.
Does not work Thanks for the help. However, the options does not work for me. What happens is that the windows is in fact closed - but Parallels 4.0 itself stays running in the background. Note the dock icon. I have to manually quit P4.0 by using APPLE-Q or quit from the menu. Any ideas?
BijanK, It is so by design. Even if Parallels Desktop is closed, the icon stays in the dock, unless specifically removed.
I am not sure if we're talking about the same thing here. I do understand that the icon stays in the dock. However, I am talking about the application not quitting but staying active (marked by a blue dot). I would not expect this to happen when I shut down a Windows VM.
That is indeed a design bug of version 4 elevated to the rank of feature. There is no such option anymore to have the Parallels application quit when the last running VM shutdown and close its window.
