Is it possible to set the resolution of my guestOS (Win XP) higher than that of my Mac?
My MacBook Pro screen doesn't go higher than 1440 x 900.
For testing purposes of websites, I want the Windows screen resolution to be 1600 x 1200 px.
I don't care about scrollbars, it's only to check certain script features of a website.
However, if I choose this resolution in Start > Control Panel > Display it confirms it, but still switches back to the max of my host.

    In version 3 and version 4 ,
Click Start - run - type services.msc and stop or disable Parallels Coherence service

Well, it's not in Coherence but windowed mode already.
When I've used Parallels on a mac with a big screen (at my studio) and then take the HD with me and use it on my laptop it works fine, it will keep the settings. But changing the resolution (in windowed mode) on my laptop, it won't exceed what's available on my Mac...

Yes, you cannot change resolution in Coherence mode,
Just stop Coherence service, if you want different resolution in window mode

Yes, I know that. Maybe it's difficult for me to explain but:
    1. I have a Mac with 1440 x 900 res.
    2. I want Parallels Guest OS (WinXP) to run in 1600x1200 windowed mode.
Is this possible? If so, how?

Yes, you can , please disable Coherence service from services.msc
Start - Run - type services.msc - find Parallels Coherence - stop or disable it

    Dear John,
Please look at my first reply at January 17: "it's not in Coherence but windowed mode".
So, once again: I'm NOT running in coherence, I hate it, I don't use it, I ALWAYS use Parallels in Windowed mode.
    So, for the last time:
Cán or can I nót exceed the (Mac) host's native resolution (being 1440 x 900px) in WINDOWED mode Guest OS (WinXP) where I want to use 1600 x 1200px?
I'm sorry, I cannot ask it more clealy. If it's not clear, just forget about it.
    Thanks, Taco

    Please read my post again
Please disable Coherence service, and you will be able to run with higher Windows resolution
