    bootcamp method failed to work for me on parallels, and each time it access the bootcamp partition, the startup would immediately go to the blue screen of death after selecting the parallels boot configuration. now, every time I try to start boot camp, it defaults to the parallels configuration and crashes, and requires some handy typing up front to get it into bootcamp's own XP configuration.

    I just want to undo the damage and delete the parallels configuration (dual boot config?). I've done a little searching and modified the boot.ini file in c:\ but that only renamed the option, and didn't delete. would appreciate any help, b/c it's on my sister's computer and I'm just visiting for the holidays!

    Unfortunately, I wasn't aware of the install process once the boot camp VM starts up. I thought it had crashed, and shut it down (prematurely I think). Is there a way to trick parallels into reinstalling? I get the "can not open image" error.

    The Parallels configuration does show up in the boot menu...

    Suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Angelo

    okay, got a "fix" done on the issue. edited the c:\boot.ini file (be careful on this one...), and deleted the parallels reference under OS's and then repointed the default back to bootcamp (partition 3) so the file ended up looking like the text below.... phew!

    [boot loader]
    timeout=0
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /kernel=ntkopvs_.exe hal=halopvs_.dll
