I'm the recent owner of a Macbook Pro, mainly because of the intel junk inside and the ability to run Windows. I was sold, because I like Mac OS and Windows pretty equally. Well, I've spent pretty much my whole day trying to find a way (ONE way, all I need) to get Windows to work on my Mac. The best solution next to Boot Camp was Parallels, only thing is they both seem to be having the same exact problem: They don't recognize my Windows XP CD. In Boot Camp, it's when I try to install Windows, it says some crap like, "Unable to detect Installer." So I cast that option aside. Parallels worked fine until I hit the pretty little green play button... The window looks something like this: Boot from CD/DVD-ROM drive... failed. Boot from hard drive... failed. Boot from floppy drive... Non-System disk or disk error Replace and press any key when ready I'm not quite sure what to make of it. The WinXP disk even disappears from the finder as soon as I start the installation on Parallels. But as soon as I cancel the installation the disk appears again... The thing that guts me the most is that I can't find many other with this same problem though, so..... if anyone has any idea what might be going on, that'd be freakin' sweet. Thanks.
It seems there is something wrong with your XP-CD. You can try to copy the CDROM (iso) Image to your Mac-Desktop and config your Parallels-VM to use the Image instead the real CDROM.
