I is it possible to migrate my Parallels image of Windows to a new partition in BootCamp? I want to use BootCamp to load windows for games, but be able to use Parallels to load the Windows partition for work. I believe the latest version of parallels allows you to boot from BootCamp partitions.
Maybe it's just me, but I can't imagine that getting games to run is "urgent". In any case, if your uses for XP are disjoint, just install a copy in bootcamp and have done with it, then boot bootcamp for games and Parallels for everything else, and save yourself a LOT of hassle. Note that even if you migrate your Parallels XP to bootcamp, you will have to activate again.
travis 134 is looking for a more elegant solution than this- as am I - if someone has worked out the answer please let us know. Thanks
The urgent part about it is being able to retain my ability to develope with Visual Studio .net See, I have Visual Studio in my virtual machine on parallels, but I need it to stay there, while having the ability to boot into bootcamp for anything that requires native Windows. I don't want two installations, this is exactly what I want. Parallels - Bootcamp, there has to be a way. Thanks PS: Activation isn't a problem.
Urgent? Then you are in the wrong place please note that while this is working mostly, it is still very much beta "therefore" it shouldn't be being used in any situations considered "urgent" yet.
Not an urgent issue for me, more just something I'd like to do as I wait for 3036 to get cleaned up. There are some programs I have installed that would work better in Bootcamp than in Parallels (due to directx support and dual display issues), so to be able to be used in both would be fabulous. Oh, and I don't have the XP CD I used to do the install (my former employer has it). But, in searching the net, I can only find information on converting from bootcamp to parallels, not the other way around.
Yah, copyig didnt work, and I just installed bootcamp with Windows, worked fine, but when I installed parallels tools for bootcamp, I couldn't open it in Parallels (It gave me a BSOD) but I could still open it in Boot Camp. What gives?
