    I see the banner on top of every page - I registered while that was showing. Does that mean I also get the same deal? :)

    you get free updates to the version of the product you bought (ie 2.x at the moment). I believe it is not the intention of Parallels to provide new major releases as free updates to existing customers. At least thats how I read it, the last time this was brought up. So when V3.x hits, its time to get the credit card out again.

    My point is that the offer is for free updates for a year, not just 2.x versions. That banner was showing before I purchased the other day, prior to me registering - and even now.

    Does that change the question/answer?

    no... you still get one year of updates to the product you purchased. Once a new major release, say 3.x comes out, you will need to buy it, but you will still receive any bugfix updates to 2.x release until the year is up.

    If you read the page to which the banner links, it does clarify that you will get major upgrades as well within the 1 year period.

    I'd love to know what the policy is for those of us that bought prior to the initial release.

    @darkone

    So you're implying that there will be no major upgrades within 1 year?

    @twynne

    From the banner wording - I'd agreed.

    It would certainly be a bad idea and bad PR if they cut off the people who were their first customers from getting the same deal.

    Agreed - but I've not been able to find anything (in my confirmation email/receipt or otherwise) clarifying what the upgrade policy is. You'd think we'd be entitled to something for the 'pain' of beta testing something...
