I bought a new XP Home SP2 CD original to run with parallels. Macbook will not run the CD , makes strange noices and locks up the CD. The rest of my DVDs seem to be working fine. So if I cannot run it from CD, can i download a Windows ISO image and then use parallels to run it. Does microsoft allow you to download iso image. Any help will be really helpful.I am quite frustrated with this. Thanks Prakash
Two things to try: Make an iso image of the CD in OSX and use that to install. If that doesn't work, make a copy of the CD on another machine. There have been several reports of MS CDs that wouldn't read properly in Apple drives. If neither of those works, contact MS and tell them you have a defective CD and get a new one.
Option 1: 1. Creating an Iso file The ISO file was created successfully. How do I run the iso file from parallels. I select CD rom, Image file -> iso file location from Parallels. And when i begin installing, it searches for a CD in drive and says CD not found. Am i doing something wrong here? I will also try making an ISO from another PC and run it. Option 2: Call MS Can you please clarify, if my procedure of running the ISO from paralles is right, is there anything else i need to do? Thanks a lot
