    I have upgraded an tested thru all the releases and still no change. :eek:

    If i copy from Mac to Win, I will either get garbage at the end or loose last character.

    Ok, i know this might be a minor issue compared to some of the others that have come out, but it happens on a constant basis to me and copy and paste are essential to what I do in my job.

    Is it that the parallels team doesn't see this, or they do and they are getting to it.
    in any case can the parallels team "Throw us a bone" :confused: on their plans on this issue

    I dont think im alone on this frustration :mad:

    As I was troubleshooting this morning after upgrading to 1970, I experienced at different times:

    1. A complete failure to copy Mac text to Windows;
    2. The infamous last-charater-missing problem (my first time seeing this);
    3. No problem at all with Mac to Windows copying.

    My troubleshooting actions were limited to Windows restarts/VM resets, and Parallels Tools clipboard enabling/disabling. Nothing fancy.

    Currently I am experencing a combo of #1 and #3. I have determined the copy-paste failure depends on the app your are copying from: Copies from Eudora or Tex-edit (note spelling) do not work at all; copies from TextEdit, Safari, do.

    So, is it apps under Rosetta that have the issue? Apps using Carbon? I tried running TextEdit under Rosetta (using Get Info option) but in that state it continued to work fine with copy-paste.

    I puzzle. But I have a workaround: Copy from Eudora (for example) into TextEdit, then into Windows. A pain, but no problems.

    Lord knows why the last-char issue came and went over the span of a restart or two, but based on my experience I'd say build 1970 has no particular effect on it. I can understand also why the Parallels developers are not having the easiest time finding and squashing that bug.

    Most of the time i see the last character missing when copying text from a PDF to any text editor with in Windows.

    And the garbage at the end when i copy from Browser on Mac side to text editor on Windows side.

    Thanks nolamike for that very good test information.

    Character dropping

    Me too. I haven't upgraded to 1970 'cause I'm afraid of the problems that others have reported. But it sure would be nice to know what the plans are for this.

    Otherwise, veddy veddy happy.

    BenInBlack,

    Could you try to download 1970 from the site again. We fixed number of Copy & Paste bugs and upload today build with the same number (1970) but with these fixes. Could you try - will work for you now?

    Ok, I've installed 1970 (1 Nov) over 1970 earlier.

    I tried to do an install of Parallel tools, but since the version is the same it came up with question to completely uninstall PTools, so i cancelled that. (note: after canceling the complete uninstall I came up with error dialog about there not being a disk in drive D:, just an FYI, might confuse others)

    So i guess none of the changes where in PTools

    I did some initial testing that usually alway gave me the issues:
    1. open Firefox and copy text from browser to notepad in windows, good, no extra chars
    2. open PDF withing Win and copy from pdf to notepad in windows good, no dropped last char
    3. copy from PDF Win to Mac Textedit good, no loss or extra chars

    No, did you want me to uninstall ptools and reinstall?

    Also, thanks for addressing this.

    Just an update on this issue...

    I am still getting both the drop and the extra chars, in 1970-2, but it not at the frequency as before. it is now at a "every now and then status"

    I appreciate the parallels team for looking into this.

I have not installed a mouse just useing the touch pad on the macbookpro.I usually copy source code of web sitethen paste in notepad or editor to make changes.
    Also how do you copy a url in the address bar in either vm or mac?? I like to save web urls but some are loooong.

    In Windows, you can press CTRL and SHIFT and then click to simulate a right-click. On the Mac, you can do this with CTRL alone and a click.
    On the MacBook Pro, you can also go to System Preferences and enable a feature that allows you to right-click by putting two fingers on the touchpad and clicking. This will then work with Mac and Parallels.
    To copy a long address from Safari, simply select the address and copy it. I do this by triple-clicking on the address to select the entire line and then pressing Command-C to copy it.

    Yes. A mouse.

    Windows is designed to work with a two button mouse, and a great deal of the frustration expressed in many posts seems to be caused by the expectation that the Apple one button concept "ought" to work with Windows. It doesn't. It reminds me of the person who doesn't speak the language of someone they are talking to, and seem to think that if they speak their own language loudly and slowly it will help.

    A two button wheel mouse is about eight bucks, or a few more at retail. It will solve everyone's right click problem. Windows is not Mac, never was, and try as it might, it never will be.

    @Andrew: I just saw your advice to download a later copy of build 1970 to fix Copy/Paste issues.

    I tried it today. I downloaded build 1970 and installed it, then went through the process of uninstalling Parallels Tools and reinstalling them in my Win98 VM. But copy/paste from OS X to Win98 is still broken. It's slightly different, but it still doesn't work.

    If I copy text in OS X, and move my mouse over the VM console screen with the Parallels Tools window open, I immediately see the first character of my copied text appear in that window, which was what I have always seen. However, if I try to paste in Notepad, the paste option is grayed out, indicating that there is nothing on the Windows clipboard. Before I reinstalled, it would paste the first character.

    Copy/paste from Win98 to OS X still works fine.

    i, too, am experiencing the drop-last-char in paste from OSX to win2k.

    also, copying fails completely from time to time;
    as a work-around, i've found that if idisable "Clipboard Synch" in the Parallel Tools dialog,
    re-enable it and clear the clipboard, then copy again, it seems to work.

    some work to be done here, i think.

    i can report that i've not had this problem since upgrading to 3188.

    there've been other issues, but hey.

    i'd like to emphasize, as others have, that it would be really. useful. if. parallels.
    maintained a list of builds that states what issues are supposed to have been
    addressed.

    thanks!

    I didn't see this when it was posted, but...

    This is completely unprofessional. How can you expect customers to do any kind of configuration management when the source is modified silently by the vendor? Now we not only need to ask what version of Parallels a person is running, we need to ask what revision of a version a person running. My hopes are fading.
