Greetings, all. There are may posts on here about various USB devices, and so much has changed over the past few months that it is hard to determine which is the latest data. So, I'm wondering about the latest status of support for the following devices: - Ross-Tech VAG-COM - Radio Shack PRO-96 scanner - Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx I don't own any of those devices - yet - but I plan to buy them very soon, and support in Parallels would be most helpful. I have seen conflicting reports on the VAG-COM and 60CSx, but can't find anything on the PRO-96 scanner... so my guess is the scanner will work just fine. Thanks. Daniel
Well, I'm not sure. I've seen conflicting reports on the VAG-COM and the 60CSx. I hope the VAG-COM works now with the isochronous (sp?) support, but I am not sure. Like I said, it's difficult to figure it out based on forum search results.
Yeah, I have paralells and havn't figured out how to install it correctly without having OS X crash. as soon as I figure this out I will post up about the vag. I have the usb version and was hopping it would work. maybe you can help me figure out my installation problem. Like I said above everytime I install paralells i and go to start the VM OSX crashes and says I need to restart my computer. Also I can't select the CD/DVD drive under the devices menu., any suggestions?
yeah after I posted that I saw the retail customer notice...I have a C2D MBP and need to upgrade the build...need to do that tomorrow or late tonight
Garmin GPSMAP 60Cx works Hi, I have no problems using my Garmin GPSMAP60Cx using either the MapSource program or direct USB drive access. I Use XP SP1 hosted by Parallels Desktop build 1970. Walter
Well I tried paralells with the vag-com and no luck...it will find the device but as soon as I plug it into the car it doesn't work. crap....guess I need to instll bootcamp...although I need a retail version of windows XP now...
Well if you figure something out let me know....I think it has to do with the data speed between the car and the USB port not being equal or fast enough. and I don't even know where to start on this.
Usb I would point this out to everyone, and I don't think it's especially good news. In my household, I have a Mac Pro, a C2D Mac Book Pro, and a CD Mac Book Pro. I have a ton of USB devices I would like to use--the Toro Sprinkler Timer setter thingy, my VAGcom, my Magellan GPS, my Cingular 8525, my wife's Blackberry 7130e, and so on, so I think I have a wide range of things to test it with. So, here it is: they work differently on these different machines (at least the MacPro vs. the Books) For example, every third time or so I connect my 8525 to the MacBook Pro C2D, it will work in Parallels, but I simply can't get it to work on the MacPro, and, yes, I used identical procedures to connect to both. Now that Parallels is stable enough to run all the software we want, it needs to fix this so we can truly totally switch AND not need BootCamp!
and it will take time...but intil then I will have to use bootcamp because I have heard reports that it works this way..i'm cool with that and will hope for updates to parallels.
