Hi, I'm trying to install an Oracle 10g database, but the installer fails at the following point: Checking physical memory requirements ... Expected result: 256MB Actual Result: 255MB Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<< Problem: The system does not have sufficient physical memory to perform the install. Recommendation: Increase the amount of physical memory available to your system before continuing with the installation. I'm running on a 2GB MBP, with 1.4 GB allocated to Parallels. Why is the system only showing 255MB? What can I do to increase this 255MB so I can complete the install?
There are two places in Parallels to allocate memory. One is in the application wide prefrences: this only changes the max amount that could be allocated to every open VM at once. Think of it as a global limit to make sure that Parallels never tries to allocate more RAM then you have. The other place to allocate memory is in the prefrences page of each VM ("edit" on the VM window). This changes the amount of RAM each virtual machine has. Did you change the correct option?
Nevermind. After shutting it down, I went through the configuration editor steps, where it said 256 MB... Since I ran the Express Install of XP, it must have used that setting (I had used 1400 MB during the attempts at manually installing windows.)
Thanks, I wrote my 2nd post before seeing yours. You're right, I had only looked in one place. When I looked in the other, I found the problem..
