but it appears not to be bootable. how can i install it on a fresh copy of Parallels on my MacBook Pro which i just bought a few weeks ago? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks. h
first step, download build 1922 at http://download.parallels.com/RC/Parallels-Desktop-1922-Mac.dmg (if you haven't installed yet) then download this doc622 boot disk View attachment dos622.fdd setup the guest for the win98 and set this boot floppy to boot on startup note: you only need to setup up the harddrive at 2gig max because that is the max win98 could address once you boot up on the floppy run fdisk at the A:> prompt and then setup as bootable partition A:>fdisk[enter] (after you have fdisked) then at the A:>format c: /s[enter] (after format) A:>C: [enter] then C:>md win98[enter] then insert win98 cd into cdrom then C:>cd win98[enter] then C:\win98>copy R:\win98\*.*[enter] after all the files have copied to c:\win98 folder C:\win98>setup[enter] you should be installing at this point have fun
I'm trying to install windows 98, i'm using both your floppy image and a windows 98 cd image, however it may be a problem associated with the CD (always a thought). But when i start the install process i'm not getting any confirmation that it's starting and it's maxing out the core that parallels is running. The computer is: Macbook 2.0ghz 1gb ram 80gb hard drive Virtual machine settings (i've tried twice on 2 setups): 256/32mb ram 2gb/400mb hard drive
It is my recomendation that you remove or turn off the physical CD from guest setup, (temporarily) then copy the win98 folder off of the cd image in to the c:\win98. Then run setup from the c:\win98 folder. Note: you might have to burn a CD of the win98. I don't know if the cdrom driver that is on the fdd will handle from an image, I have never tried it
