I cannot seem to set up a shared folder. I have followed the instructions, but: 1) The folder does not come up in OSX 2) When I try to access it from within Window's, an error comes up and I can't get into it. What's wrong? I can access the files using this method 1. Make sure Windows sharing is on in Mac' Sharing Control panel. 2. Open My Network Places in Wondows XP, click on "Add a network place" in left menu; click next to enter wizard. 3. "Choose another network location", click Next 4. type: \\IPnumber\Macusername where IPnumber is your Mac IP number (which you can get from the "about this Mac" from the Apple menu ( where its is listed as " IPv4 Addresses:" under "Network"; and Macusername is your username on the Mac. 5. Enter your Mac's login and password. 6. Finish But I would still prefer it if the shared folders worked.
Ok for some reason the method I used above doesn't work anymore. I get the same error as when trying to use the Parallels shared folder.
My shared folders worked the first time, but I did not recall that that Parallels would create a folder on OS X for you. I had to first create a folder on OS X, and then go into the Windows XP VM configuration. I was able to name the folder on XP, but I had to browse to point to an already existing folder on OSX. Try this and it should work.
