When I attempt to install Win XP from Parallels, I get the message "Unable to communicate with hypervisor!" What does this mean and what am I doing wrong??
Try rebooting your Mac. That will usually get rid of the message. Although not implicitly stated, you need to reboot after installing Parallels for everything to work properly.
