    This is my issue:

I use parallels to emulate windows to allow me to use a primarily windows based online voice chat program called Ventrilo (I'm sure someone knows about it). I've setup ventrilo within my windows installation using Parallels for Mac to use the left shift key to toggle voice input. When Windows and Parallels is the active window within OSX, everything works great, however the next step I need to do is to have Parallels not be the active window and still have the ability to use that shift toggle. When I'm on the computer and parallels is not the active window, I receive sound like usual, I'd like to be able to send sound also this way.

If for whatever reason this post isn't clear, please say so and I'll try to explain myself a little better. Otherwise, any help anyone has would really be appreciated. Thank you.

Not an answer, but is there some reason the OSX client won't work for you?

Answer: Parallels does not yet have AppleScript support... but when it does, you could set a QuickSilver trigger for an AppleScript that would press the desired key for you.

Alternate answer, may or may not work... If you ahve an extra usb gamepad, you could have parallels use that gamepad, then set a directinput hotkey in vent for your talk key. Then you'd just have to hit that key on the gamepad to talk.

Would something like that work with an additional mouse? or an additional keyboard?

--Can't use the mac client because the server is setup to GSM and the owner is an idiot, and doesn't know how / won't change it to speex.

Sorry to bump this post back up to the top but this is an issue for me also. I love being able to use Ventrilo with Coherence on OSX but I have the same problem as you. My Ventrilo hotkey is shift as well. I don't have a gamepad to try your suggestions but if anyone else has gotten this to work please post about it. I sent this concern into [email protected] so hopefully they know about it.

As Dguterman said the Mac Ventrilo client is in alpha and only supports the Speex codec. Hopefully he will release a new build soon that adds the new codecs.
