Can anyone tell me how to get parallels to connect through my mac mini to a serial connection. Here is what I need to do. I need parallels running windows xp to connect to a rs-232 serial port through the mac usb. I have a usb to serial adaptor but I can't get it to connect. I need to run a program called rc studio that uses a serial port to connect to the controller. Any help out there?

I guess I got lucky, my serial port adapter installed with no problems.

I am using build 1922 on an intel dual core Imac, and I picked up a Belkin F5U103-MAC serial port adapter off ebay last week.

I am running windows xp service pack 2 with the parallels tool installed. All I had to do to get my serial port adapter to work was to go to the devices-->USB-->USB 232 Adapter. The windows hardware detector started right up, and it communicates very well with windows. I use mine to download data off an old Land Surveying Data Collector I still use from time to time.

I checked into the Belkin adaptor and I see they do not have a driver for OS X. Are you not running OS X or didn't you need to install the driver? Why did you buy this adaptor or another? I wonder if another would work as well?

I didn't install the driver for OSX. However, it did autodetect the device, and it shows up on my system profile as a 232 adapter.

As for why I bought this adapter, I will have to admit I got lucky. It just happened to be the cheapest one on Ebay, and it works!
