    Hi -

I just purchased my first Imac. Because I have a program that requires windows, I purchased the parrallels desktop for mac. I've installed parallels and now I'm trying to create a typical virtual machine for windows xp.

The problem I am having is that after I create the typical virtual machine, and at the point that I am to insert the disk for windows xp, and then I press the green arrow start key for the cd or the virtual machine (not sure which it's for) I get a pop up message window that says I need to restart the computer or hold down the power button for several seconds. At this point, the mouse will not move and there is no restart button on the computer so I take the other option of holding down the power button. All this is doing is turning the computer off. Once I wait for a while and then turn it back on, I get a message that it was shut off (illegally?) and then I get nowhere but that same cycle again. Can you help or tell me of somone who can?

Thanks, (trying to get set up for our art gallery opening and this has taken hours)

The version of Parallels in the retail box is not compatible with the fancy new Intel processors in your iMac. You need to download the current beta version (1940 is the latest). Follow the links on this site.
