I downloaded the trial version of Parallels Destop for Mac (I have intel imac) a few months ago. Everything worked great and Windows installed just fine. I recently purchased the full version of the software at CompUSA and now I'm having issues with installing Windows. Everything goes fine until I go to activate Windows, it says that I have the wrong product key code. I've done it like five times now, even had other people type in the code just to see if I'm not reading it right, still no luck. Has anyone else had this problem? Please help. Thank You!
This is for activation of Windows XP or Parallels? If it is Windows XP, then I suggest you call Microsoft and talk to them... they can tell you why it isn't working. My guess would be that you activated it in a VM, and are now trying to re-install into the VM again, and activate it again. Windows will only let you activate the same key so many times before you have to hassle them over the phone.
I purchased an OEM version of windows on line and cannot activate it. MS says it is because it is a OEM version. The supplier called microsoft and gave me a new key, it doesn't work either. I don't know where to go from here. WHen I try to activate by telephone there is a red x covering some of the ID numbers on the screen that you have to give to microsoft. They are left from a previous screen and will not go away even if restart and when you come to the same screen this red x covers two of the 35 numbers they want...that takes you to a CS rep and they tell you you have OEM copy and cannot use it. I don't know if the red x thing is a parallels problem or an internet explorer problem. Has anone else had this problem....or is something that MS builds in to the verify process. When my original activation screen comes up and the Key entry squares are blank, the red x is there saying reenter the key and click retry....when the key doesn't work it goes to a new (telephone activations) screen but the red X stays and covers part of the id numbers that you need..
