Apple has released a MacPro firmware update to fix "several Boot Camp and start up issues."

Any implications for Parallels users? Do install? Don't?

(p.s. this is being posted using Firefox running in a Linux VM)

Just installed it - seems OK so far.

Hasn't fixed the VT-x issue - you still need to sleep & wake up.

Note - after installing it, do Software Update again because there's a fan controller update which only shows up once you have the EFI updated.

Warning - as you install the second update, the Mac Pro's fans briefly crank up to full power. Wow!!! Keep loose clothing and small pets clear. :)

Before the firmare update I didn't need to do anything, my Mac Pro always came alive with Intel VT-x on. Since the firmware update it appears to be resolutely switched off. Doesn't seem to affect my VMs though.

Intel VT-X Mode Before and after EFI update

mac pro 2gb, prior to efi update, I would get a message saying VT-X was disabled. Had to do the sleep thing in order to get it to work.
After the EFI update (which went well, however it did take an awful long time to shut down which made me think the system had crashed, but it eventually went along)

Well after the EFI update, without sleeping I didnt get a "VT-X" disabled message, but when I went to "About Parallels" / "More Info" i told me I was in virtualization mode 2. After a brief sleep, i did the same thing and got mode "VT-X"

didnt see any apparent difference in performance
