I have used build 1884 (on a MacPro 2.66 2GB - OS Build 8K1124) to create two VMs and both have the same problem - "poof" shutdown and return to the Properties display with no message or diagnostic.
VM #1 first booted the Ubuntu (6.0) live CD and performed a complete installation to virtual HD, and the HD rebooted and ran a full update with the Synaptic Package manager - 2 hours of execution and all cool. But when I tried to run it the next day it ran a few minutes and "poof". And now it won't run more than a few seconds before the "poof."
VM#2 was created for Win XP SP2, it booted the Win DVD and went through full install process and activation (so network worked) and seemed to execute Internet Explorer etc. very nicely.
Next day, it booted up and ran 5 minutes and then "poof" -- back to the properties screen with no message. And now every time it tries to boot, Windows says "start up in Safe Mode?" and whether you do or don't, the VM "poofs" in a couple of seconds.
It seems most peculiar that a VM will work for a long time the first time, and then bit-rot sets in or something on subsequent runs.
Is this something that Parallels knows about and will soon fix?
