Parallels 1884, using Vista Beta 2. Everything was going fine, till I tried to compact the drive using Parallels Compressor. I should have been wary, as under the paralels control panel, the disk drive size is listed as 1158MB, even though a full Vista install is more like 9000MB. In any case, the compressor ran, didn't report any errors, but at the next boot Vista ran the check disk utility which found literally thousands of file errors of various types. Decided to trash it and re-install vista, as I don't trust it to fix that many errors. Beware!
1. Compressor is not updates to Vista and should complain on unknown OS even when started. I wonder how did you managed to run it on Vista. 2. Reduced Parallels Tools package is up-to-date for Vista - Copy&Paste, Time Sync, Network driver. The rest of tools is not available yet.
To clarify, as I'm not sure if I ran Parallels Compressor or what. Here is what I did. 1. Open my Vista VM (with the VM shut down) 2. Clicked Hard Disk 1 3. Clicked the "Advanced Tab". Under the Optimization section, it says "Actual size of disk image file is 2238MB..." This is wrong, it's more like 9000MB! 4. I clicked the "Compact" button -- it worked for a while, and trashed my disk. Perhaps this is not running "Parallels Compressor" -- not sure what it is, but in any case, the "Compact" button trashed my disk.
