I was told that a mapped network drive was more efficient and faster than using the shared folders. What are the steps to creating a mapped network drive between the Mac OSX and the Parallels Windows XP environment?

    Thanks

Do the shared folder setup with the Parallels tool on the Win XP VM. Then set that shared folder as a network drive in Win XP through Explorer.

I've noticed several different apps have problems seeing the VM shared folder, but setting it as a network drive does the trick.

So, as a humble Windows newbie (though I am a Mac consultant), how does one "set that shared folder as a network drive in Win XP through Explorer"?

Just right-click on the shared folder icon you created (mine is on the desktop) and select "Map network drive..." Select an unused drive letter and you're set.
