HELP! I am a brand-new iMac owner. Just bought Parallels and can't activiate it. Finished installation and it said to go to Applications and double-click the orange icon. No icon--just a folder--clicked and got the orange icon--dragged it to the dock. Next it said to go the Help menu. Where in the world is that?? Thanks for any help you can give me!!!
Ok this took mee a long time to get in my head being a Win user for so long. the top pulldown menus for the current window are not at the top of the window but at the top of the desktop. It is suttle but when ever you change to a window the top menu to the right of the blue apple changes So click on the orange parallels icon then ant the top of desktop click on help the activate I feel your pain
Dragging an icon to the dock in Mac OS does not launch the program... When the program is running, the dock icon has a little black triangle under it. Maybe that is the issue?
Making progress--with your help I can get to Parallels Help but Activate Product is gray--can't click on it. The Virtual Machine windows pop up at the same time which turns the Help Activate black, but that is for Machine not basic Parallels. Stuck again--any ideas?
There is no activae for a virtual machines. If you can get to the Help Activate menu, then you've got the right thing.
THANK YOU ALL--I'm activated!!! The title on the window was Untitled Virtual Machine--Parallels Desktop, so I thought I somehow bypassed the "Parallels" activation box and went to the second step of Virtual Machine. THANKS again--never would have done it on my own.
I'm back! Got as far as installing XP--Everything seemed to go okay with setup, but when I got to the end to actually install, clicked on Return and the window lit up a little but nothing happened. (Does my Mac have anything comparable to Window's green squares that go across to let you know that something is actually going on and give you an idea about how near to completion?) Any ideas where I might have gone wrong this time?
What window lit up? The Parallels window? Did the Windows XP installation start? It usually starts with a blue screen and text. Did you get that far? Are you installing from CD?
Installing with XP CD. The first time it went through Windows Files Setup all okay. When (Windows window) asked to click Enter for installation I did but nothing happened. A short time ago I started all over again, but this time I didn't see Windows at all--just the Parallels screen--black background--gives version and amount of memory. I made it through the INSTALLING A GUEST OPERATING SYSTEM (PG. 38 in the book) without a hitch, but now I can't get XP to come up with its instructions for installation.
