I installed parallels last week and enjoyed it very much. a couple of days ago I downloaded and installed the new MacBook SMC Firmware Update from apple website, and now I have a SMC of version 1.4f10. the firmware update adjusts fan behavior in the MacBook.

the problem is, after updating the firmware of my MacBook, parallels doesn't work any more. when I click on the parallels icon, after a couple of seconds, a message pops up and says "The application Parallels Desktop quit unexpectedly". I believe I have the latest version of Parallels installed. and i tried to reinstall parallels but it doesn't help, i still get the same error.

do any of you have the same problem?

It seems that your recently used *.PVS file with VM configuration is corrupted and Parallels fail to load it. Try to go in Finder to <your user>/Library/Parallels, locate your VM folder and remove *.PVS from it. Then launch Parallels again and create new VM and attach old disk image to it.

I removed winxp.PVS from that directory, but it doesn't help, still have the same problem.

Very strange. I can't see how firmware update could affect Parallels before VM actually started. Did you reboot your MB after update? Which version of Parallels do you use?

yeah I did reboot my MacBook after update, I'm using the 1848 version.

I've just checked files in the bugreports folder, all the log files have the same content:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Parallels Desktop 2.2 for Mac OS X version 2.2 Build 1848.0 from 2006-06-13
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Received SIGBUS: Bus error
    Access to fault address: 0x0
    unknown signal sender: 2

Frankly I've no idea what could happen to cause such error. I doubt it because of firmware update. Try to completly uninstall Parallels and then install it again. And reboot once Parallels is installed again.
