I am running Parallels Desktop for Mac on a MacBook. The Macbook crashed while Windows XP was running in Parallels due to a random problem and I am now not able to boot windows in either normal or safe mode or from an XP boot CDROM. I tried defraging the drive and it gets two thirds the way through and comes up with an error. It appears that the crash of the MacBook has some how corrupted the virtual hard disk. It looks to me like I will have to delete the Virtual Hard Drive and reinstall everything again. I have tried running diagnostics from the XP Boot disk without success. Does anybdy have an idea on a how this problem may be solved.
Sounds like it trashed your file. Make sure OSX is running with a journalling disk wherever you keep your Parallels HD file. That should help to prevent corruption.
