Hey Pals, Finally got my networking all working and the PC VM is acting just like windows... heh. Wondering about the virus protection services like symantec etc? my WinXP "security center" keeps poping up that I don't have any and it wants to sell me some... Thoughts? I guess it can get infected... but can it effect any of my shared folders with my mac? Is it worth paying for, if I only use the VM/PC occasionally? Thanks in advance for any help! There are several quality free antivirus products. I'd get one of those for occasional use. Check out CNET.com for reviews and just pick one and install it. It's windows .. sooner or later you'll get infected. And yes shared files could be infected, but it is extremely unlikely that an infected file on would have any impact when opened on the mac side.
Yes, Windows in a VM can get infected by viruses, just like Windows on a PC. Do not use Symantec products. They cause more problems than they solve. If you want antivirus, you can download a free product like AVG AntiVirus. I am using it on my PCs, it works well, and use little memory. If you feel like paying them you can get the professional version which does more things.
