    Hi all,

I'm running Parallels 4.0 on a Mac mini CD 1.83GHz with 2GB of RAM and a 200GB 7200rpm HDD (Mac OSX 10.5.6), and recently installed Windows 7. Everything has been going great, as I've been using Win7 as my main OS just to see how it runs.

Unfortunately, ever since I installed Win 7 [Parallels shows the guest as "Windows 7 (Experimental)], my Mac mini itself will seemingly randomly restart itself. Unfortunately, I've been away every time this has happened; it's happened 3 times just today. All I have running on the Mac side is iChat, and Parallels. I'll step away for a few minutes to do some work task, and upon my return my mini is showing the Leopard log in screen. When I start Parallels back up, I get the "Do you want to start Windows 7 in Safe Mode?" message; I choose "Start Windows Normally," and all's well...until I step away again for a few minutes & the mini restarts itself again.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I searched this forum, but didn't read about this type of problem for anyone else, unless I missed it.

Any help on how to stop the constant restarts would be much appreciated.

    TIA

    Shut down auto restart

In the system control panel under advanced startup option you will see a checkbox near the bottom noting something like "reboot on error". Remove the checkmark. This will cause windows to blue screen and freeze showing you what the error is so you can fix the problem.

Check for Console Logs, it seems to me the reason is overheating

    Hi again,

Thanks everyone for your input. John, I've been monitoring my mini since I started up Parallels 4.0 & Win7, and the temp seems to be within normal range; the fan is running as it normally does, around 1500-1750rpm; the HDD is at 47°C, and everything else seems to be running as it does normally.

Here are the only Console logs I could find from last Friday:

    1/23/09 10:01:24 AM bootlog[47] BOOT_TIME: 1232726475 0
    1/23/09 10:02:21 AM loginwindow[35] USER_PROCESS: 35 console
    1/23/09 12:18:43 PM bootlog[46] BOOT_TIME: 1232734709 0
    1/23/09 12:20:05 PM loginwindow[34] USER_PROCESS: 34 console
    1/23/09 5:14:45 PM bootlog[46] BOOT_TIME: 1232752471 0
    1/23/09 5:15:10 PM loginwindow[34] USER_PROCESS: 34 console

beta_pcolvin, where is this "advanced startup option" you mention? I've looked in both Parallels 4.0 Preferences as well as Configure, and don't see that option listed anywhere. I'm an admitted simpleton; can you be more specific as to where I might find this?

Very much appreciate the responses to this thread...am running Win7 in Parallels 4.0 again this morning, am trying to keep a closer eye on things...
