Every time I try to update Parallels in my guest OS, Windows XP, it freezes. I have been trying for at least a month now. What can I do to fix this? I am following the prompts that come up when Windows finishes loading. I have also tried a manual update. Either way my guest OS freezes. I have to do a force quit every time to get out of the system. Then I have to start all over again only to have the same thing happen. Please help!
I am running Parallels version 3.0. The update is for built 5626 I believe. I'm at work right now so I'm not sure which build I am running before the update. I want to say it is 5618. But I'm not sure. Thanks!
Hello, Kristin, Please, manually download the newest build using the link given in the article below: http://kb.parallels.com/en/5802 and install Parallels Desktop 5626 from this package. Please, make sure, that you download the same language pack as you currently use in your Parallels Desktop.
I was able to do the download manually. Thanks! I anticipate that this problem will arise with any new update. If so, should I return to the same link and download manually? Why does this happen? I update when in Mac, right? Then when I log onto Windows I will be prompted to update again, right?
You need to shutdown Virtual machine and quit Parallels before running Install Parallels Desktop from downloaded dmg file
