I recently upgraded to 4.0 from 3.0 and am presented this window each time I go to open Parallels offering a choice of actions:

    Parallels Virtual Machines

    (MS logo) MS Windows XP
    Windows XP

    (Parallels logo) Microsoft Windows XP
    Windows XP

Clicking on the "MS" logo'd choice leads to the opportunity to start Windows. Clicking on the "Parallels" logo'd choice opens a window with the message "This virtual machine needs to be converted before it can be used with Parallels Desktop 4.0" and then the option to Convert, Back Up and Convert, or Cancel. Why the choice and what should I do about it?

    wingmate,

You must convert virtual machines from Parallels Desktop 3 in order to use them with Parallels Desktop 4.
From the choices, I must suppose, that you have two virtual machines on your Mac. The first one (Windows logo) was converted. The second one (Parallels logo) was not. If you are using both virtual machines, then you should go ahead and convert the second one, backing it up first.

Regarding the two log on choices, I only want or need one way to get to Windows. Can I safely disable the second (parallels logo'd) choice?

Thank you. I now have just one version of Parallels 4.0 up and running.
