Hi, I'm not getting much help in another thread (the person trying is doing their best but they're struggling) so I figured it's time to start afresh! I have a virtual hdd which has a predefined size of approx. 49GB. However at the moment only 9.65GB is being used... Ideally I want to reduce the predefined size but I understand that this is not possible?! :-( Alternatively I want to shrink the .pvm bundle closer to 9.65GB... At the moment the .pvm takes up 19.65GB when the actual space used on the virtual hdd is only 9.65gb! What follows is a breakdown of the contents of my "ITS_Laptop.pvm".... config.pvs (12KB) config.pvs.backup (12KB) harddisk.hdd (19.65GB) parallels.log (276KB) [Windows Applications]* (7.5MB) [Windows Disks] (4KB) Then inside "harddisk.hdd" we have.... DiskDescriptor.xml (4KB) DiskDescriptor.xml.Temp (4KB) harddisk.hdd (0KB) harddisk.hdd.0.{5fbaabe3-6958-40ff-92a7-860e329aab41}.hds (19.65GB) *[] = folder Now I tried compactor after removing this section from "DiskDescriptor.xml" as suggested. <Snapshots> <Shot> <GUID>{5fbaabe3-6958-40ff-92a7-860e329aab41}</GUID> <ParentGUID>{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}</ParentGUID> </Shot> </Snapshots> However this made little difference, as I only achieved a .01GB reduction! The next thing I will try is compressor... I'm concerned about using compressor as it sounds like it just uses the compression tool built into windows.* This can enable one to reclaim quite a large amt of space but at the expense of a drastically slower file system! Any advice as to why compactor isn't working terribly well would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Jed *I realise it does a bit more than that
*bump* Err, can I get a little help here? I am a customer & a fairly frequent beta tester. cheers, Jed
I believe I answered you, anyway, I highly recommend to create ticket in support , because I remember that VM is migrated one
You answered some aspect of my Qns, I'm just wanting others opinions... It's transpoprted from real laptop environment, not a migrated PD3 VM.
