Just installed Parallels 4, then win Vista Home Premium. There's way more technology than I can understand all at once; but for now, I just need to be able to work with a couple of programs in windows. It is running in coherence mode, and I can't figure out the right way to have the windows 'desktop' in sight. When I start up Parallels Desktop, it then opens and starts up windows, then as soon as it appears, it swishes over to the left, out of sight. I know there's a way to bring it back, but have been playing with it for an hour or so, and reading the manual. I finally just went up to 'Applications' and clicked on 'show windows desktop', and have been just minimizing it/bringing it back up. Also, at some point I must have clicked on something and now don't have the Windows taskbar right above my dock. It had a couple of buttons on it that were for 'coherence' and 'switch windows' or something like that. The 'switch' button didn't do anything, that I could see. Sorry to be so dumb about this, but I am pretty lost here. It does seem to work fine, just can't get the view and stuff that I want. Thanks.
when you open your VM and in coherence - as you stated it 'goes to the left' but at the top you still have your 'parallels' menu bar across the top. CLICK applications --- then click 'show' windows taskbar. THen you will have your Dock on the bottom (mac) then above that your start button across and including your 'clock' for windows. Let me know if that helps
Also if used to use links on Desktop, just select Applications- Show Windows Desktop and your Windows Desktop is back
Yes, thank you both for your excellent help. I am understanding it a little better now, and what each of you said helped. I appreciate it. AnnieOK
