Volume control upside down?

I have noticed interesting new "feature" of PD4, I suspect. I was trying to use Skype in PD4 (don't ask why...) and sound level from build in mic from my MBP seemed very, very low... All sliders to max, and barely can be heard. Until I accidentally found, that if I _REDUCE_ the mic sound level in the VM (Windows XP, SP3), the sound level actually goes up! And with level of about "10%" I got perfect level for my Skype.

So:
1. If you have sound issues with MPB microphone level, try reducing the level (for Skype, set it to manual, not auto).

2. Is this bug in PD4 or is this something specific to my setup? Can someone test their setup to see, how that works?

It seems nearly funny... Oh yes, sound on my Mac all behaves properly, so it is not Mac issue...

All worked fine under PD3.
