I just downloaded an update to Parallels Desktop (Parallels-Desktop-5626-Mac-en-ND.dmg). When I double click on the update file, it tells me that the disk image failed to mount because it is unrecognized. I have tried re-downloading and get the same result. How do I get this update to install?
Please clarify where did you get this .dmg package. Probably it's corrupted .dmg, which is not downloaded from here: http://download.parallels.com/v3/en/GA/Parallels-Desktop-5626-Mac-en.dmg Please also try to check permissions for .dmg package - rightclick and chose "get info" then browse to permissions and make sure that it has "read and write" permissions for your user account.
After downloading, it asks me if I want to launch the Parallels Installer. When I try to do that, the program just hangs. I have to eventually force quit the parallels program and the update is never installed.
ollow http://kb.parallels.com/en/4790 first, then install build 5626 I've been having similar problems, when I try to upgrade to the latest build. I received a notice about the build through the automatic updates and did the download and installation. Once this was started the machine hung-up with the spinning beachball. I have an Intel IMAC (MAC OS X V10.5.5, 2.4 Ghz, Intel Core 2 Duo, 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM), and Parallels Desktop 3.0, Build 5160 (September 13, 2007). I'm running Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3. (This XP is actually an upgrade version.) When I checked for help on this problem, I came across this thread. The recommended action is to remove Parallels and then re-install. This seems a bit much, as the original install took a bit of time. If my Parallels is running fine right now, do I need the latest build? What is it supposed to correct? Are there any other solutions other than re-installing the Parallels software? If this is the only option, has anyone doen this and been able to load the latest build successfully?
Version you are using is old, Please download build 5626 following link bellow: http://download.parallels.com/v3/en/GA/Parallels-Desktop-5626-Mac-en.dmg and reinstall Parallels Desktop as described in kb http://kb.parallels.com/en/4790 pay special attention that old build is not mounted while installing new
Suggested solution Hello Again, Following some other threads, this solution is not always effective. Could you clarify what this build is trying to correct?
What particular of problems are found if the build is not installed and Windows XP service pack 3 is present? If the problems are minor (I do not seem to be experieccing any crashes to of the ordinary then the hassel of unloding and reloading Parallelsdoes not seem warranted.
