    hello
As I mentioned in title I have big problem... caused by myself :/
I'm using Macbook Pro with Leopard. I have Win XP running on Parallels. I was having many small problems with it and I decided to try VMware. I installed it. Everything was fine. Then I decided to export some of my files from Windows on Parallels to Windows on VMware. I opened Parallels Desktop - my bad I've done it while VMware was still running. My computer got frozen and got kernel panic. After restart I tried to open Parallels and what I saw was: Some of files from directory /documents/Parallels/Windows XP lost all its content.. They are 0 Kb.

    Windows XP.pvs
    Windows XP.mem
    these files are O Kb

also one file from WinxP.hdd lost its content. Its DiskDescriptor.xml

All I have now is WinXP.hdd (has all data but broken xml file) and couple snapshots.

Is there any way to open winxp.hdd content somehow? I need to get data I've had on my Windows. My last Time Machine is unfortunately too old. I tried to replace single files from present configuration with files from Time Machine but it does not work.

If there is any way to get the data back, please write me back.

Thank You for any kind of help

Right-click .hdd file, choose Show Package Contents -- there will be three .hds files (as I understood you have two snapshots). Select the latest and the biggest one and drag'n'drop it to some other place. Then rename it to winxp.hdd for example, create a new virtual machine using Custom installation method, choose Use existing hdd and specify the path to winxp.hdd. Also, note there is no need to launch virtual machine in order to get data from its hard disk -- use Parallels Explorer, it will browse VM's hard disk like a regular drive.
