    Hello...

First of all I already have an open ticket regarding Networking and several issues... the ticket number is: 623645

I have discovered a new issue... two actually and I think they are related.

I have Virtual XP up and running. Running good except for the connection issues under the above ticket. However, as I have been looking around I opened my V_XP's Windows Explorer and under My Network Places/Entire Network I found a new Network item called Parallels Shared Folders (.psf) which I am sure is supposed to be there.

I started just looking at things to familiarize myself and I found two sub folders.. one is called "Home" on //.psf and one is called "Host" on //.psf. (I'm sure many are familiar with these two files. It didn't take a lot of intelligence to figure out that since this was in the Virtual XP, the Host folder referred to the Mac side of the Virtual business and the Home folder referred to the Virtual XP.

As I started looking deeper in the "Host" folder I found the "Volumes" folder and remembering that Parallels Transport as well as a lot of Mac literature I have read called hard drives "Volumes" so I started looking at all the sub folders just to see what was there.

I found the Hard Drive designation that holds my Virtual XP system (I am pretty sure of this..) It is called "C Drive OS" which is a name I gave it when was doing the Transporter/Migration thing from my old PC to the new one. However, there are two of them. One is "C Drive OS" and one is "C Drive OS-1".

Now I had a lot of trouble Transporting and Migrating needing to do it several times... first with Version 3.0 and finally a couple of times with Version 4.0. Each time I would have problems, I would re-format my exterior drive (deleting all files and writing zeros) which I used as a Transport vehicle between the Mac and the physical PC so I am sure I didn't duplicate anything with the exterior hard drive but I think OS X kept the duplicates.

In looking into this a little further.. by comparing the data in "C Drive OS" and in "C Drive OS-1" I find that under the "C Drive OS" I two more sub-folders called "C Drive OS" and C Drive OS-1" and under the first "C Drive OS-1" I have two sub folders called "C Drive OS" and "C Drive OS" (yes... two sub-folders with the same name).

I don't know if all of these "C Drive OS" folders are causing any problems but for sure they are using up disk space. I would like to delete whatever is not necessary but how in the world do I find out what to delete and how to delete it?

Another problem and I think it is related... When I go to "Parallels Desktop/Window/Virtual Machines Directory" which opens a "Parallels Virtual Machines" menu, I get three choices... "Windows XP", "Microsoft Windows XP" and "WinXP". I remember issuing these names each time with a failed Transport/Migration and now the one "Microsoft Windows XP" is the one that is working.

Also at the bottom of the "Parallels Virtual Machines" menu there is an (it's an open folder Icon) option to "Open a Virtual Machine". When I click on that I am given a window that looks like a "Finder" window and there are four virtual machines (.vpm files) listed... the three I listed in the above paragraph and one more called "NatesVirXP.vpm.
Again, I can't delete any of those either although they don't take up much Hard Drive space... 2.5 Megabytes... I would still like to get my system cleaned up.

If anyone can help please jump in and help. I will sure appreciate it.

    The Oowf

What ticket are you referring to... the one I started several days ago with different issues? And if so, just exactly how do I go about doing that?

    oowf,

You should use the Finder to delete all the virtual machines that don't work or that you don't need. These will then become disabled in the virtual machine list, and you will be able to remove them.

I'm so sorry.. I can't understand 90% of the communication I have received regarding this ticket so I am going to close it.

I am not blaming anyone. It is my error due to my including several problems in one thread/ticket... instead of focusing on one... so far nothing has been resolved.

    Again, I appologize!
