2 cursors, cannot click on anything in Windows desktop

    I've had most problems most people have had with PD 4.0 and Vista. Down now to this:

    1) When I go into Windows Vista, I am seeing two cursors - a black cursor and a white cursor. White cursor stays there on the Windows desktop and doesn't move. I can control the black cursor, but cannot click on anything on the Windows desktop - I can only go under the Parallels menus at the top.

    2) Everytime I shut down Parallels now, when I go back into it, and try to run Vista I get the error screen that says Windows was not shut down properly and asks if I want to continue opening Windows as normal. I do - then it seems like it takes forever, but it eventually boots up.

    This has been a nightmare. Any suggestions on these last issues?

    Looks like this might be a Parallels Tools problem - try doing the following:

    -go to Start => My Computer => Control Panel => Add/remove programs and uninstall any and all instances of Parallels Tools already present;

    -restart your VM. cancel all windows of the 'found new hardware' wizard;

    -go to Virtual Machine => Install Parallels Tools.

    Can't go to Start > My Computer . . . . cursor won't click on the "Start" icon, therefore I cannot access My Computer, Control Panel or anything. Only thing I can access is the Parallels menu at the top.

    All is well.

    This all has been very frustrating - upgrading to Parallels 4.0, upgrading Vista, reinstalling Vista, reinstalling Parallels, and all the quirks associated, but in the end there were some very weird settings in the Parallels "Configure" screen - too many to know what actually was the problem - but I ended up being able to reinstall Parallels Tools and everything works perfectly.

    Side note: I have two MacBook Pro computers. One for work and one at home. The one for work is running Windows XP and I never had issue one with that one after installing Parallels 4.0 for it. Not one. Parallels 4.0 installed fine and computer is running fast and lean.

    The one I've been having trouble and complaining about is the MacBook Pro for home that is running Windows Vista. As Forrest Gump would say, "I'm not a smart man . . ." but it seems the major issues come from Parallels 4.0 vs Vista. Seems right. Wished I had never "upgraded" to Vista on this computer but what's done is done, and like I said - all is well now.
