I have a windows guest with MS office installed. If I try to copy/cut say a range of cells from excel and paste it as a table into word, all formatting is lost. The same exact operation on my laptop correctly pastes a table. Even just trying to copy a table within word loses all the formatting and I get essentially a 'table-to-text' like operation on the pasted text. It seems that the cut/copy/paste operation is not retaining the meta-data I would imagine is associated with the data posted to the clipboard. Note, this is all happening within the same guest. Same issue when going between VM's and from OS X to VM etc. Running build 5608, windows SP2, office 2003. Thanx in advance for any insight!
It seems to be Office issue if you perform operation on one side only (Mac or Windows), if you perform operation between Mac and Windows - note there is only text is copying between OSes
Hi John, thanks for the response. Unfortunately, it seems to be parallels issue. I suspect parallels copy doesn't retain meta-data saved in the clipboard. The VM is a 'transported' image from my laptop. Software is exactly the same but the behavior is different. Give it a try. Open an office app like windows, create a simple table then just highlight the table with your mouse and paste a copy of it back into that same document. You'll get text, not a table. Do that on a physical PC and you get a table. Thanks.
